Router Safety

Note: This document does not provide information about how to operate this machine. It only lists potential hazards associated with using the machine and safety practices. Before using the machine be sure to receive proper instruction on it's use.


Potential Hazards:

1. Entanglement in the router bit

2. Flying wood chips

3. Kickback of stock

5. Bit damage from foreign objects

 

Safety Practices:

1. Make sure the machine is setup correctly.

2. Be sure stock is free of paint, nails, grit, loose knots, or foreign materials.

3. Make sure you know how to perform the operation correctly.

4. Wear safety glasses at all times.

5. Roll-up long sleeves.

6. Do not wear dangling articles.

7. Secure long hair.

8. Unplug the router when installing or adjusting the bit.

9. Securely clamp stock in a vice or onto a work surface.

10. Do not turn on the power until you are in working position and have a firm grip on the router.
