Note: This document does not provide information about how to operate this machine. It only lists potential hazards associated with using the machine and safety practices. Before using the machine be sure to receive proper instruction on it's use.
Potential Hazards:
1. Entanglement in the blade or moving machine parts
2. Flying wood chips
3. Kickback of stock
4. Stock "snap down"
5. Hearing damage
4. Blade damage from foreign objects
Safety Practices:
1. Make sure the machine is set-up correctly.
2. Make sure that all guards are in place.
3. Make sure you know how to perform the operation correctly.
4. Wear safety glasses at all times.
5. Wear hearing protection.
6. Roll-up long sleeves.
7. Do not wear dangling articles.
8. Secure long hair.
9. Never reach into the planer feed or outfeed openings.
10. Always keep your hands above the surface of the board.
11. Do not plane stock less than 12" in length or 3/8" in
thickness.
12. Stand to one side while planing.
13. Never make cuts greater than approximately 1/16 ".
14. Be sure stock is free of paint, nails, grit, loose knots, or foreign materials.
15. If the stock gets stuck, turn off the machine, wait until it
stops completely, lower the bed and remove the stock.
