Belt and Disk Sander Safety

Note: This document does not provide information about how to operate this machine. It only lists potential hazards associated with using the machine and safety practices. Before using the machine be sure to receive proper instruction on it's use.


Potential Hazards:

1. Flying dust

2. Flying work piece

3. Contact with the moving abrasive surface

4. Entanglement in moving machine parts


Safety Practices:

1. Make sure the machine is set-up correctly.

2. Make sure that all guards are in place and are correctly adjusted.

3. Wear safety glasses at all times.

4. Roll-up long sleeves and secure long hair.

5. Do not wear dangling articles.

8. Securely hold work pieces.

9. Do not use sanders if the abrasive is torn or loose.

10. Keep body parts away from moving abrasives and machine parts.

11. Only sand on the ÓdownÓ quadrant of disk sanders.

11. Hold workpieces against the sander table or stops.

12. Do not lay portable belt sanders down on their belts.
